At Prudential, we’re here for our community, and we thought we’d share a quick story of hope and ingenuity. In this time of uncertainty, our brave men and women on the front lines of the pandemic risk their lives to protect the rest of us.
The recent onslaught of new COVID-19 cases has placed a significant strain on health care systems across the US, leading to dangerous shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE), including N95 masks.
We’ve recently learned that UV lights are now being used to preserve PPE. This experimental procedure is used to decontaminate N95 masks with ultraviolet light.
At Prudential, we use UV technology in many of our systems, and we saw an opportunity to help. So, our team designed, built and donated a UV lightbox for Floyd Memorial Hospital. Now, doctors and nurses at Floyd Memorial can sanitize their masks with UV light delivered via UVC bulbs in the lightbox. This process allows masks to be used for a week or longer giving our healthcare workers more of the protection they need.

This is new essential equipment. Great idea! My girlfriend is a nurse and I’m a HVAC apprentice. Every professional needs one of these.
